Product: NZXT Sentry 2 5.25in Touch Screen Fan Controller
Provided By: NZXT
Price: $30 Est.
Introduction:
NZXT certainly has been making a name for themselves over the past few years and today we see why. They have released a few fan controllers over the past couple of years starting with the original Sentry 1. Since the original, they released the Dual-Bay Sentry LX that added a lot of nice features, but was a bit bulky for some users. Today we've got a look at their third installment - the Sentry 2 touch screen fan controller. What impresses me right off the bat with this unit is that it can monitor up to 5 temperature zones and control up to 5 fans. Also keep in mind that it has a nice viewing angle and touch screen controls - all for about $30.

First Look:
It wasn't that long ago that NZXT announced the launch of the Sentry 2. While I'm sure you've all ready more exciting press releases, this fan controller is a very nice update to a couple of previous NZXT products. The Sentry (non-LX) series are single bay units while the Sentry LX is a dual-bay unit. The Sentry 2 brings a wider viewing angle and monitors and controls as much stuff as the Sentry LX while only taking up a single bay. Of course you lose the clock and calendar, but I think that is a sacrifice most could make for a mere $30. When I opened the box I was greeted by some sticky tape, screws a small manual, two extra thermal probes and of course the Sentry 2 itself. The Sentry 2 has five thermal probes attached to it out of the box as well as five 3-pin and 4-pin connectors for the fans.

The controller's advanced functionality sounds an alarm to alert the user should the temperature exceed a preset amount and stores saved settings even after it is turned off. Designed to maximize efficiency, the Sentry 2 supports 10W per channel and creates less heat than traditional temperature displays.
