Introduction:

Flash drives have completely revolutionized portable storage and today it's not uncommon to find 8GB units for under $60.  8GB is a lot of data and it's baffling to think that you can carry a DVD worth of data in your pocket.  Many of these 8GB drives are still quite bulky so it was very interesting to get a hold of the Super Talent 8GB Pico (A) flash drive and see how this tiny little unit performs.  It's small enough to easily fit on a key chain and still manages to hold an impressive amount of data.  Keep on reading to see how it shapes up.

 
Pico Package

Like many Super Talent products the 8GB Pico comes in very simple packaging.  The packaging is adequate for sure, but lacks the flashy appearance of other high profile companies.  This is not a bad thing if the products are consistently good as I'd rather pay for a good product than a fancy box.

Closer Look:

There's not a lot to look at when it comes to a flash drive and this drive is no exception.  The tiny size of it is remarkable though and the drive is less than 40mm long and less than 4mm thick.  Even though it's so small it is still reasonably rugged thanks in part to the metal case and the water resistant rating.

Features: 

The specs state that the drive supports data transfer rates of "up to 30MB/sec" but it doesn't say what the read and write speed are.  On the next page we'll see how it stacks up.
